嗜血杆菌属
巴斯德氏菌科的一属细菌
嗜血杆菌属是巴斯德氏菌科下的一个革兰氏阴性的，多形性的球杆菌属。[1][2]作为典型的球杆菌，因为他们的形状有很大变化空间，他们被归类为多形性细菌。该属包括一些能显著致病的细菌，如流感嗜血杆菌能造成败血病及儿童的细菌性脑膜炎，再如杜克雷嗜血杆菌是软性下疳的病原细菌。该属的所有细菌都是需氧菌或兼性厌氧菌。

嗜血杆菌属的细菌不能在血琼脂平板培养基上生长，因为他们都需要至少有以下一种血液因子：血红素，烟酰胺腺嘌呤二核苷酸。巧克力琼脂是很好的嗜血杆菌生长培养基，因为它使得这些因子更易获取。[3]另外，嗜血杆菌在“葡萄球菌划线法”培养：葡萄球菌和嗜血杆菌在同一琼脂平板培养基中培养时，嗜血杆菌的菌落经常会在更大的葡萄球菌菌落旁形成“卫星菌落”，因为葡萄球菌的代谢产物中有嗜血杆菌生长所必需的血液因子。
