暹罗-越南战争(1831-34),指的是暹罗泰国)开始尝试征服柬埔寨以及沔南地区,最终被越南击退。

柬埔寨的入侵 编辑

1812年,在安赞二世(1791-1837)重夺柬埔寨皇位后,暹罗军队移到了柬埔寨北部,然后向南方移动以支持他们所希望的的皇位继承人。[來源請求] 柬埔寨人在Kompong之战中被击败,安赞和Chang在1832年逃离到了越南[來源請求]

沔南战争 编辑

受到胜利的鼓舞,暹罗继续向东进军,并且在面对越南军队之前占领了沔南的朱笃市永隆市[來源請求]

与此同时,柬埔寨和老挝东部(在暹罗和越南控制范围内)爆发了一场起义。1833年,越南人率领了一支15000人的军队与暹罗军队开战。其目的是帮助安赞恢复柬埔寨首都乌栋金边北部地区。暹罗被迫撤军,越南获得了柬埔寨的控制权。[來源請求]

1833年2月19日,美国外交官Edmund Roberts和一名越南大使(明命帝统治下的南圻地区)同时到达北榄府码头。 Roberts只是依稀感觉到有战争的苗头,但是他很快就明白了此番造访的任务:

...不单no less than to demand the delivery, to them, of the person of the first minister of state, and superintendent of Pegu, and the principalities of Laus and Camboja, whose title is "Chan-phaya-bodin-desha;" he is a "meh-tap," ([แม่ทัพ mother-of-the-army] 错误:{{Lang-xx}}:文本有斜体标记(帮助) or commander of the Siamese forces now in Camboja."

这是1826-1829年老挝叛乱所产生的一次新的需求。This was a renewed demand arising from an incident during the Laotian Rebellion of 1826–1829. Minh Mang had sent an envoy with a hundred men to learn of Siamese intentions; which Bodindecha made known by leaving only one of them alive to return. The 1833 mission was coldly received, in sharp contrast with the attention given that of Roberts.[1]
