發展始於2011年，頂峰娛樂與生產公司Red Wagon Entertainment（英语：Red Wagon Entertainment）合作購買了分歧者小說的電影版權[1]。其中首部曲在星期四的午夜場中便收穫了490萬美元的票房[2]。2013年12月，頂峰娛樂收購了分歧者系列小說之第三部《赤誠者（英语：Allegiant (novel)）》的改編權利，2014年4月，片商決定將三部曲分割為兩部電影改編[3]，後因為口碑不理想，三部曲之二遭到取消，電視劇企劃也沒有下文[4]。

系列中的首部曲《分歧者》在全球總收益超過2.88億美元[5]。續集《分歧者2：叛亂者》票房高達2.97億美元[6]；同時也是以IMAX 3D格式發行的第一部分歧者電影[7]。第三部《分歧者3：赤誠者》僅獲1.792億美元，為系列中最低[8]，慘澹的口碑導致後續作品無法延續。三部作品的總票房超越7.65億美元。

2012年10月22日，宣布雪琳·伍德莉將飾演女主角碧翠絲·「翠絲」·普里爾（英语：List of The Divergent trilogy characters#Beatrice "Tris" Prior）[9]。2013年3月15日，席歐·詹姆斯確認演出男主角托比亞‧「四號」·伊頓（英语：List of The Divergent trilogy characters#Tobias "Four" Eaton）[10]，盧卡斯·提爾、傑克·雷諾、傑瑞米·爾文、亞歷克斯·帕蒂弗、布蘭頓·思懷茲、亞歷山大·路德韋格以及路克·布萊西都曾被認定為該角色的演員人選[11][12]。

拍攝 编辑

首部曲《分歧者》的主要拍攝在2013年4月16日於芝加哥進行，同年7月16日殺青[13][14][15]。續集《分歧者2：叛亂者》則在喬治亞州的亞特蘭大進行拍攝[16]。《分歧者3：赤誠者》於2015年5月18日開拍，取景地點同樣為亞特蘭大[17][18]；攝影直到8月23日結束。
