2016年8月12日，宣布《六人行不行（英语：Friends with Better Lives）》主創達娜·克萊茵（Dana Klein）與其丈夫馬克·弗瑞斯坦同凱式娛樂（英语：Kapital Entertainment）製作人亞倫·凱普倫（Aaron Kaplan），將為CBS開發由弗瑞斯坦主演之新喜劇試播集。[2]故事啟發自弗瑞斯坦在紐約拍攝USA電視台《上流名醫》時的人生經歷，並由克萊茵與他共同執筆，兩人同時也將和凱普倫、溫蒂·楚靈（Wendi Trilling）及達娜·阿納（Dana Honor）共同擔任執行製作，由CBS電視工作室（英语：CBS Television Studios）製作。[2]
