2017年10月6日，史密斯透過推特宣佈他的第二張專輯名為《痛快感受》，並將會于2017年11月3日發行[5]。 這是史密斯在首張專輯《寂寞時分（英语：In the Lonely Hour）》獲得巨大成功后的第二張完整專輯，而前張專輯在全球有近1200萬的銷量。

史密斯在《告示牌》談論專輯時說：
