間皮瘤（mesothelioma）是發生在胸腔或腹腔內壁上的腫瘤，可分為良性或惡性。發生在胸腔的間皮瘤與石棉纖維的接觸有極大的相關性[1]，普遍與塵肺病（肺塵埃沉着病）同源。也因為如此目前世界各國都逐漸禁止使用石棉，以保障人民的健康。

例如香港於2008年修訂了《肺塵埃沉着病(補償)條例》（正名爲《肺塵埃沉着病及間皮瘤(補償)條例》），給予間皮瘤患者相當于塵肺病患者的補償待遇，理據是兩者同是暴露于石棉環境的後遺症。
