Microsoft Teams是一個通訊和協作軟件，它集成了聊天、視訊會議、 文件儲存 (包括文件協作)、Office 365等功能。Microsoft Teams是Slack等服務的競爭對手[7]。微軟在紐約的一場活動中披露了Microsoft Teams產品，並於2017年3月14日在全球發佈該產品。[8][9]此軟體是由微軟公司副總裁 Brian MacDonald 創建並負責的[10]。

2016年3月4日，有消息傳出，微軟曾考慮出價80億美元收購Slack，但比爾蓋茲表示反對，稱該公司應專注於改進Skype for Business[11]。微軟最終在2016年11月2日披露了 Microsoft Teams 這一產品[12][13]。

在2017年9月7日，有用戶開始注意到一條消息，內容為「Skype for Business現在已成為Microsoft Teams」[14]。這在2017年9月25日的微軟年度 Ignite 會議上得到確認[15]。

2019年7月30日，微軟宣布Skype for Business將在2021年7月31日後關閉，由Microsoft Teams取而代之[16]。

在2021年6月24日正式推出的Windows 11內置Microsoft Teams[17][18][19][20]。
