男性研究

男性研究，有时也被称为男性气概的研究，是一个跨学科的学术领域，专门讨论关于男性、阳刚气质、霸权男性气概、性别和政治的主题。

相对于男性心理的概念，男性研究计划和课程通常包括当代讨论男人的权利、男性主义、女权主义理论、酷儿理论、母系社会、父权制，以及更普遍的男性和男子气概的社会、历史和文化建设。他们经常讨论的问题，围绕着看到周围男性特权（英语：male privilege），演变成更微妙的形式，而不是消失在当今时代。

美国男性研究协会（American Men's Studies Association ，AMSA）追踪有组织的男性研究领域至20世纪80年代初，以及学者的工作在参与反性别歧视的改变男性国家组织（National Organization for Changing Men，NOCM）下的被称为男子的研究工作组（Men's Studies Task Group ，MSTG），其中包括马丁·阿克尔(Mairtin Mac an Ghaill)、雪费布里斯、哈里·布罗德(Harry Brod)、山姆凡姆奥、马丁费伯特和迈克尔·梅斯纳(Michael Messner)。然而，男性研究的类别于也早于NOCM，以及少数遍布了整个20世纪70年代在美国各地各高校任教的学者。
