披市勒亩在西班牙征服智利前已有前哥伦布时期的部落居住[6]。他们以狩猎和捕鱼为生，主要居住在卡查波阿尔河和马乌莱河沿岸[6]。在西班牙征服智利后，剩下的部落被同化到智利社会[7]。
1544年1月24日，西班牙征服者佩德罗·德·巴尔迪维亚向胡安·高梅兹·德·阿尔马格罗授予披市勒亩的委托监护权。
