線上詞源詞典（英語：Online Etymology Dictionary）是一部免費的線上詞典，由道格拉斯·哈珀（Douglas R. Harper）編寫，描述了英語單詞的詞源。[1]

美國內戰歷史研究者、 LNP Media Group的文字編輯道格拉斯·哈珀[2] [3]編寫了這部詞典，其中記錄了50,000多個單詞的歷史和演變，包括俚語和技術術語。 [4]網站的參考資料包括羅伯特·巴恩哈特的巴恩哈特詞源詞典（The Barnhart Dictionary of Etymology），埃內斯特·克萊因的英語詞源大詞典（Comprehensive Etymology Dictionary of the English Language），中古英語目錄（The Middle English Compendium），牛津英語詞典，以及1889年至1902年版的世紀詞典。 [5] 哈珀還研究數字檔案。在網站首頁上，哈珀認為自己在很大程度上只是他人詞源研究工作的編輯和評估者。
2014年中文開發者 Liu Chongwei 為網站開發了Android、iOS客戶端培根詞彙（Etymonline）。[2][6]

線上詞源詞典已被牛津大學的「藝術與人文社區資源」收錄，評價是「尋找詞源極佳的工具」[7]，在芝加哥討論區報中被描述為「找到合適的詞語的最佳資料之一」。 [8]它在學術工作中被作為有效的詞源參考，雖然不是決定性的。 [9] [10] [11]此外，它還在定量學術研究被用作數據源。 [12] [13]
