焚毁贾夫纳公共图书馆
焚毁贾夫纳公共图书馆（淡米尔语：யாழ் பொது நூலகம் எரிப்பு, Yāḻ potu nūlakam erippu）是斯里兰卡内战重要事件，也是20世纪大规模焚烧民族文学作品的事件之一[1]。1981年6月1日晚间，僧伽罗人暴徒暴怒，焚烧贾夫纳公共图书馆。此次暴行据说是由统一国民党组织的。

贾夫纳公共图书馆遭到焚毁前，也被列为当时亚洲最大的图书馆之一，拥有超过97,000本书籍和手稿，但最终这些书籍都遭到焚毁，包括带有重要历史价值的“棕梠叶卷轴”[2][3]。这起具种族意涵的书籍破坏行为，导致淡米尔人相信政府不会保护他们及其文化，也使许多淡米尔人开始支持建立从斯里兰卡分离的独立国家。
