让-皮埃尔·韦尔南

让-皮埃尔·韦尔南（法語：Jean-Pierre Vernant，1914年1月4日—2007年1月9日）是法国的历史学家和人类学家，古希腊的专家。受列维 - 斯特劳斯的影响，韦尔南对“希腊神话，悲剧和社会”采用了一种结构主义的研究方法，这种方法本身在古典学者中产生影响。 他是法兰西公学院的荣誉教授。

经历

韦尔南出生于法国普罗万，最初学习哲学，（1937年在这一领域获得了广泛的研究。）

作为青年共产主义者的一员，韦尔南特在第二次世界大战期间加入了法国的抵抗运动，并且是自由运动联盟（Libération-sud）的一员（由艾曼纽·德·阿斯蒂尔建立）。后来，他以“贝希尔上校”的假名指挥位于上加龙省的法国内政部（FFI），他是解放运动的伙伴。战后，他一直是法国共产党的党员，直到1969年。

1948年，他进入法国国家科学研究中心（CNRS），在路易·热尔内（Louis Gernet）的影响下，转向古希腊人类学的研究。十年后，他成为社会科学高等学院（ehess）的研究主任。1971年，他在圣保罗大学担任教授。这次访问也是他与弗朗索瓦·奇特尔（François Châtelet）一起反对巴西军事政府独裁的抗议行动。

他是法国促进世界儿童和平与非暴力文化十年赞助委员会（International Decade for a Culture of Peace and Non-Violence for the Children of the World）的成员。他支持资助非暴力21世纪组织（Non-Violence XXI）。

1984年，他被授予国家科学研究中心金质奖章。2002年，他在克里特大学获得荣誉博士学位。

韦尔南在塞夫尔度过他的93岁生日后几天去世。在他去世后，他的名字被送到塞夫尔的法国高中，le“Lycee Jean-Pierre Vernant”。
