Note that there is no consensus in Indian astrology on how to set the ayanamsa. According to Indian astrologer N. C. Lahiri, according to Axel Harvey, in the preface to Jean-Paul Michon (2000), the ayanamsa is 23.8569 degrees or 24.17997 days in 2000, 24.30750 days in 2009. This amounts to a co-incidence of the sidereal with the tropical zodiac in the year 293 AD.

tropical year: 365.24219 days; sidereal year: 365.25636 days; difference over 1724 years: 24.42908 days.

Cyril Fagan's system assumes 786 BC rather than 285 AD as the date of separation, consequently adding another 15.16190 days, or 39.59098 rather than 24.30750.
