Deutsch: Karte des Wallis aus dem 16. Jahrhundert English: Map of the Valais of 1548. The Riedmatten coat of arms of the prince-bishop is shown at the top; the city of Sion is shown with an early version of the Valais coat of arms (with ten stars). Coats of arms of other communes of the Valais are shown in smaller size, with some shields left empty. Coats of arms of neigbouring polities: Duchy of Milan (top left), Savoy (top right), Uri, Hasle, Frutigen, Simmental, Saanen, Aigle(?). The Matterhorn is shown as Mons Sylvius, Great St. Bernhard as Mons Iovis.
