English: Wide field photo of the Crux (Southern Cross) constellation. The Coalsack Dark Nebula can be seen as the dark area below-right in the constellation. This photo was taken under foggy skies, causing the stars to become large glowing orbs. Image was created using 15 × 182 second (45 mins total) sub exposures taken with a stock Canon EOS 5D Mark II and 100 mm f/2.8L IS Macro lens at f/4 and ISO 1600 mounted on an Astrotrac equatorial mount, stacked using Deep Sky Stacker and finished using Adobe Photoshop CS5.
Italiano: La fotografia abbraccia tutta la costellazione della Croce del Sud. Ben visibile nell'immagine anche la Nebulosa Sacco di Carbone, l'area scura in basso e a destra rispetto alla costellazione. La posizione dei principali oggetti visibili nell'immagine è evidenziata con l'uso delle note.
Il seeing al momento della ripresa fotografica non era eccellente: il cielo era nebbioso e ciò ha causato che le stelle appaiano come globi luminosi. La fotografia è composta da 15 riprese sottoesposte da 182 secondi ciascuna (per un totale di 45 minuti), acquisite con una Canon EOS 5D Mark II, con obiettivo 100 mm f/2.8L IS Macro, montata su un cavalletto AstroTrac con montatura equatoriale. Il mosaico è stato composto utilizzando il software Deep Sky Stacker e infine ritoccato con Adobe Photoshop CS5.
