English: A ripe fruit of the african safou tree (Dacryodes edulis) from near Douala in Cameroon, cut open. The stem joint is on the near end. The outer skin has some small white spots of some (supposedly edible) mould. The edible greenish flesh has a avocado-like consistency. To the right are snippets of the kernel skin, underlying padding material, and a piece of one of the several kernel segments. Deutsch: Eine aufgeschnittene reife Frucht des afrikanischen Safu-Baumes (Dacryodes edulis) aus der Nähe von Douala in Kamerun. Der Stielansatz ist am zugewandten Ende. Die äußere Schale hat ein paar kleine weiße Flecken von (angeblich essbarem) Schimmel. Das essbare grünliche Fleisch hat Avocado-ähnliche Konsistenz. Rechts sind Schnipsel der Kernhülle, darunterliegenden Füllmaterials und ein Stück eines der mehreren Kernsegmente. |
