2012年5月，环球影业和照明娱乐将根据这本书制作真人/动画电影。马特·洛佩兹（Matt Lopez）受雇编写剧本，而克里斯·梅莱丹德里（英语：Chris Meledandri）和黛博拉·福特（英语：Deborah Forte）则负责制作[8]，但在2013年7月，照明娱乐取消了该项目。2013年9月13日，电影仍由环球影业开发中，大卫·鲍尔斯（英语：David Bowers (director)）正在商谈执导这部电影[9][10]。就像2011年的电影拯救小兔一样，名义上的狗角色将被动画化，而其他角色将是真人[10]。
