阿拉伯角鸮

鴟鴞科角鴞屬下的一種鳥類

阿拉伯角鸮（学名：Otus pamelae，英语：Arabian Scops Owl），是鸮形目鸱鸮科角鸮属下的一种鸟类。[3]这个物种分布于阿拉伯半岛的沙乌地阿拉伯西南部、叶门和阿曼西南部。[3]目前被评为无危物种。[1]

这个物种由美国自然学家乔治·拉蒂默·贝茨（英语：George Latimer Bates）于1937年所发表，他当时认为这个物种是体型稍大且颜色略深的非洲角鸮亚种，因此将其名称命名为Otus senegalensis pamelae。[5]其模式产地位于沙乌地阿拉伯的比沙堡。[6]2013年，有研究指出阿拉伯角鸮在形态和声音上与非洲角鸮有显著的区别，而在亲缘关系上也较接近欧亚角鸮而非原先的非洲角鸮，建议独立成种，隔年世界鸟类学家联合会即承认其独立性。[7][8]但这个物种与另一个同样自非洲角鸮拆分的安诺本角鸮之间的关系仍未有完全明了。[9]

属名Otus来自拉丁语的同名词，指短耳鸮，此词源自希腊语的ὦτος（罗马化：ōtos），意为“有耳朵的猫头鹰”。[10]:286种小名pamelae则来自当时任职于伦敦雅典娜俱乐部（英语：Athenaeum Club, London）的图书馆员Pamela Lovibond，该俱乐部的一位成员向贝茨建议了此一名称。[10]:290[11]

阿拉伯角鸮为颜色偏浅的角鸮，其眉毛和眼周围白色，身体上半身为浅褐灰色，下半则为灰褐色，背部有深色条纹；眼睛虹膜呈金黄色，鸟喙灰褐色，脚灰褐色。[12]在歌声方面，这个物种的音调为明显较非洲角鸮高而刺耳的“krreerrch”；在外观上体型较大，跗跖较长，羽毛对比度较低。[12][6]是一种栖息于有树木、灌木、棕榈树的半沙漠地区或岩石区域，有时可能在人类聚居地附近活动的食虫性留鸟。[13][6]繁殖方面则无资料。[6]其体长约18公分，体重62—71公克，鸟喙宽平均约6.0公釐、深平均约9.1公釐、嘴峰长平均约19.1公釐；翼长13.4—14.8公分；跗跖约28.0公釐；尾长约57.0—68.0公釐。[13][12][6]

目前阿拉伯角鸮在2010年被估计有约3万对成年个体，因为其极大的分布范围，且没有证据显示这个物种正面临使其族群下降的威胁，其族群数量被认为是稳定的。[14]在《国际自然保护联盟濒危物种红色名录》中，这个物种被列为无危物种。[1][14]
