新羅馬（英語：Nova Roma，直譯：New Rome）是一個致力於羅馬文化復興和重建（英語：Reconstructionism）的國際組織[1][2]，成立於1998年，後在美國緬因州註冊為非營利組織，肩負教育和精神使命。[3] 新羅馬宣稱要促進「古羅馬宗教、文化和美德的復興」和「共同的羅馬理想」。[4][5]

新羅馬最主要的目標，是為現代世界中自我認同為羅馬人的人們，提供一個生活社區，並復興可以體驗和表達真正的羅馬身份的傳統。[19] 由於羅馬人最真實、最傳統的文化表達形式之一，是慶祝各種節日、儀式和典禮，因此新羅馬採用古羅馬宗教作為其「國教」，[20][21] 同時也保障羅馬公民的宗教自由。宗教學者邁克爾·約克（英語：Michael York (religious studies scholar)）指出傳統的羅馬思維方式、羅馬哲學（英語：Roman philosophy），為新羅馬人的靈性提供道德準則。[22]

新羅馬人儘可能真實地重建國內宗教傳統和聖物（英語：Sacra (ancient Rome)）（sacra publica），[23][24] 包括恢復古代祭司學院（英語：collegia），[25] 例如教皇（英語：pontifex）和弗拉門（英語：flamen）的辦公廳，[26]以及全年慶祝羅馬假期（英語：Roman festivals）的完整周期。[27] 根據安大略省宗教寬容顧問（英語：Ontario Consultants on Religious Tolerance）的報告，新羅馬人在聖誕節期間，慶祝羅馬節日的農神節。[28][29][30][31]

2006年，新異教作家瑪戈特·阿德勒記述新羅馬組織計劃修復位於羅馬的庫柏勒神殿。[32]

新羅馬舉辦屬於自己的本地和國際聚會，並定期與其附屬重演團體[33]參加歷史節日和公共活動，例如：保加利亞斯維什托夫的古代遺產節[34]、緬因州韋爾斯海港公園的羅馬市場日[35][36][37]、意大利的福爾維夫論壇（英語：Forum Fulvii）、匈牙利布達佩斯的薩瓦里安競技（Ludi Savarienses）歷史嘉年華和阿昆庫姆廣場（Aquincum Floralia）春季慶典，[38][39][40] 或是羅馬舉行的羅馬聖日（Natale di Roma），[41] 慶祝新羅馬成立二十周年。

新羅馬的文化活動中，與各種羅馬節日相關的競賽和遊戲占有重要地位，其中包括各種各樣的節目，從輕鬆幽默的在線遊戲到嚴肅的藝術競賽，例如：2005年首次舉辦的歷史小說寫作文學競賽「Certamen Petronianum」（佩特羅尼烏斯獎），[42][43] 評委會由知名人士組成，包括多部羅馬題材暢銷小說作家柯林·馬嘉露和羅馬歷史學教授及英國國家學術院前副院長T·P·懷斯曼（英語：T. P. Wiseman）；第二屆比賽的評委是世界奇幻獎獲獎作家及詩人舟·沃頓。[44] 克里斯托弗·弗洛姆（Kristoffer From）是首屆「Certamen Petronianum」比賽的獲獎者。[45]

羅馬文化項目 編輯

新羅馬曾經鑄造兩枚塞斯特蒂烏斯（英語：sestertius）的硬幣，一枚為青銅幣，發行於2000年；另一枚為黃銅幣，發行於2005年。每枚硬幣上均刻有SPQR字母，直徑為32毫米，厚度為1.8毫米。如果將這些塞斯特蒂烏斯送回新羅馬組織的財庫，可以兌換成50美分，[46] 因此它們可以在社區成員之間代替真實貨幣使用。

新羅馬作為一個非營利組織，其財政部門致力於贊助各種羅馬文化項目，包括實驗考古計劃、重演活動，以及重建羅馬神廟、祭壇與其他宗教配件，或者重建來自古羅馬時期的任何物品。

新羅馬組織總部的國際治理政策，[47] 允許每個國家的新羅馬社區創立分支組織，稱之為省（provincia），並根據當地國家法律規定，組建自己的非營利組織或法人組織。[48] 這使得當地能夠得到更好的認可和管理，併合乎當地法律和保險的覆蓋範圍，例如：澳大拉西亞生活歷史聯合會（Australasian Living History Federation，ALHF）。[49]
