纓冠蜂鳥體重約2.3克，翼長約37.2毫米，嘴峰長約12毫米，喙寬度約1.2毫米，喙厚度約1.2毫米，跗蹠長約6.3毫米，尾長約24.8毫米。纓冠蜂鳥在其分布區內為留鳥，其棲息在半開放的人工改造的環境中，食性為雜食性。[3]
