惠特尼美國藝術博物館舊址

惠特尼美國藝術博物館舊址（英語：Whitney Museum of American Art original building）是紐約市曼哈頓格林尼治村的3棟1838年的排屋，位於西八街8-12號（第五大道和麥克道爾街之間）。

1907年，葛楚德·范德伯爾特·惠特尼女士在西八街8號建立了惠特尼工作室畫廊，毗鄰她自己的麥克道爾巷工作室。這個，和後來西四街147號的惠特尼工作室俱樂部，旨在為年輕藝術家提供地方見面以及展示他們的作品。[1][7][8]

1918年，美國藝術家羅伯特·溫斯羅普 Chanler受託重新設計八街物業的內部，添加一個寓言人物的浮雕天花板，20英尺高的石膏和青銅壁爐，精心設計的花窗玻璃和裝飾屏。[9][10][11]
1929年，大都會藝術博物館拒絕了惠特尼贈送的近500件新作品，於是她建立了惠特尼美國藝術博物館。[12] 1931年，她聘請建築師奧古斯特 L. 諾埃爾將西八街8-12號的3棟1838年的排屋改造為畫廊和自己的住宅，1936年改造為博物館[1][3]。
在20世紀40年代，有一個未實現的計劃，將惠特尼的收藏品納入大都會藝術博物館作為75周年慶典的一部分。[13]1954年，博物館向北搬到第五大道和第六大道之間的54街新址；1966年又遷至麥迪遜大道945號（東75街）。
該建築位於紐約市地標保護委員會於1969年設立的格林尼治村歷史街區內, 並於1992年列為為國家歷史地標[6][9][14]。
