非營利搜尋引擎

Ecosia是一個總部位於德國柏林的搜尋引擎，他們將100%的利潤捐贈給非營利組織（Trees For The Future[4]及其他），用於種植樹木。[5]Ecosia是B Lab（英語：B Lab）認證的公益企業。他們宣稱實踐了碳吸收[6]，使用再生能源為伺服器供能，保持財務透明，還保護用戶的私隱。[7][8]Ecosia還獲得了B Lab的認證。截止2020年7月，Ecosia種植的樹木總數已超過1億株，每月從大氣中吸收超過5萬噸的二氧化碳。該搜尋引擎被Chrome和Firefox納入預設搜尋引擎選項[9]，而在iOS 14.3、iPadOS 14.3中也被加入到Safari的搜尋引擎選項中。

Ecosia最初提供了雅虎的搜尋結果與Bing、維基百科的技術組合。廣告由雅虎提供，作為與雅虎收入分享協定的一部分。[10]

現在，Ecosia的搜尋結果由Bing提供，並由公司自己的演算法增強。[11]

Ecosia致力於保護用戶私隱。搜尋會被加密，不會永久儲存，Ecosia也不會將數據出售給第三方廣告商。Ecosia在私隱政策中聲明，它不建立基於搜尋歷史記錄的個人設定檔，也不使用任何諸如Google分析的外部跟蹤工具。[12]

Ecosia宣稱，在該網站每次搜尋會獲得0.005歐元的廣告收益，而種植一棵樹的成本為0.25歐元，因此每搜尋50次所獲得的廣告收益足夠種一棵樹[註 1]。這些樹木在15年的預計壽命內，平均每棵能吸收50千克二氧化碳。如果Ecosia的市場佔有率達到現在Google的水平，他們所種的樹木能吸收全球二氧化碳總排放量的15%，足以抵消全球汽車尾氣排放。[13]

Ecosia於2009年12月7日啟動，恰逢聯合國在哥本哈根舉行的氣候談判。[14]隨着時間的推移，Ecosia支援了各種植樹專案。2010年12月之前，Ecosia的資金都捐贈給了世界自然基金會德國分會的一個專案，用於保護亞馬遜盆地的朱魯埃納國家公園。

2011年，Ecosia的籌款超過25萬歐元。[15]

從2013年7月到2014年9月，Ecosia支援了大自然保護協會運營的「種植10億棵樹」（Plant a Billion Trees）[16]專案。該專案旨在於2015年前種植100萬棵本土樹木，以恢復巴西大西洋森林。

2015年，在非洲聯盟和世界銀行的支援下，Ecosia開始為布基納法索的植樹造林專案捐贈，這是旨在防止荒漠化的非洲綠色長城專案的一部分。

Ecosia是B-labs認證的公益企業。B-labs稱，截止2015年1月，「搜尋引擎自2009年12月成立以來，將80%的廣告收入捐出，籌資超過150萬美元用於保護雨林」。[17]截止2015年，Ecosia有近250萬活躍用戶，種植的樹超過200萬棵。

2015年5月，Ecosia被評選為「歐洲科技初創企業獎」的「歐洲之星」，入圍「旨在改善社會的最佳歐洲初創企業」。[18]

2018年10月9日，Ecosia試圖以100萬歐元的價格從能源公司萊茵集團手中收購Hambach森林，以阻止該森林因褐煤開採而被砍伐，[19]但被萊茵集團拒絕。 [20]

從2020年1月23日起，Ecosia將其獲得的利潤捐贈給了非政府組織ReForest Now。該組織不僅計劃恢復森林，而且宣稱能使該地區更能抵禦未來的火災。ReForest Now宣稱將使用這些錢種植26446棵樹。[21][22]

2020年10月，Ecosia宣佈購買了銀行卡公司TreeCard20％的股份[23][24]，並計劃在2021年與萬事達合作推出新的銀行卡。[25]在這項計劃中，TreeCard將使用英國櫻桃木製成的木質卡（每棵樹可製成30萬張木質卡），以取代普通的塑料銀行卡[24][25]，並將80％的利潤用於Ecosia的植樹專案。根據計算，客戶需要花費60美元來資助一棵樹。[24]銀行卡還可以連結到Apple Pay、Google Pay和Samsung Pay完成支付。目前TreeCard已經開放註冊。[26][23][24]

2023年12月起，網友反映在中國大陸訪問www.ecosia.org會被強制跳轉到微軟Bing。[27]

根據Ecosia的網誌，目前Ecosia的專案覆蓋27個國家或地區，包括秘魯、尼加拉瓜、哥倫比亞、海地、巴西、摩洛哥、西班牙、塞內加爾、布基納法索、加納、馬達加斯加、烏干達、坦桑尼亞、埃塞俄比亞、肯雅、印度尼西亞、蘇丹、馬里、英國、科特迪瓦、加拿大、盧旺達、玻利維亞、美國、澳大利亞、印度和馬拉維。[31]

截止2020年7月，Ecosia種植的樹木總數超過了1億株，每月從大氣中吸收超過5萬噸的二氧化碳。[32][33][34][35]同月報道，通過廣告收益，Ecosia平均每0.8秒就能種一棵樹，每分鐘種75棵，每天種108,000棵。[34]

瀏覽器整合和應用程式 編輯

Ecosia的擴充程式可分別從Chrome網上應用商店或Mozilla的Add-ons下載。[36][37]

在2018年3月，Firefox在59.0版本中將Ecosia添加到德語版的搜尋引擎選項中。[38]

從2020年3月12日起，Ecosia被列為Google Chrome的預設搜尋引擎選項，成為首個被列入的非盈利搜尋引擎。[39]

2020年12月14日，蘋果的Safari網絡瀏覽器在MacOS Big Sur 11.1、iOS 14.3和iPadOS 14.3中也將Ecosia列為預設搜尋引擎選項。[40]

2021年1月28日，Ecosia宣佈與Brave瀏覽器建立合作關係，被納入Brave瀏覽器的官方搜尋引擎之一。[41][42]

Ecosia還發佈了基於Chromium的免費網頁瀏覽器EcoBrowser，可用於Android、iOS、Windows、MacOS。[5]
