1946年，維爾克出生在美國科羅拉多州丹佛，隨後他們家搬到加州大學聖塔莫尼卡，他在當地的學校主修戲劇學。[1] 1966年，他 在學校的戲劇《綠野仙蹤》中獲得了榮譽和表揚。 後來，他開始了自己的演藝生涯和配音演員的職業生涯。[2]
