沃爾多·托布勒
沃爾多·魯道夫·托布勒（英語：Waldo Rudolph Tobler，1930年11月16日—2018年2月20日[1][2]）是美國-瑞士地理學家和製圖師。托布勒的「一切事物都與其他事物相關，但近處的事物比遠處的事物更相關」[3]的觀點被尊為「地理學第一定律」。他還提出了地理學第二定律：「興趣區域外部的現象會影響內部發生的事情」。[4]托布勒是加利福尼亞大學聖巴巴拉分校地理系的活躍的名譽教授，直至去世。
學術背景 編輯
1961年，托布勒在西雅圖華盛頓大學地理系獲得博士學位。在華盛頓，他參與了1950年代後期由威廉·加里森主導的地理學計量革命。1961年畢業後，托布勒成為密歇根大學的助理教授，直到1977年搬到加州大學聖巴巴拉分校。 [5]在退休之前，他一直擔任加州大學聖巴巴拉分校的地理學教授和統計學教授。1988年，瑞士蘇黎世大學授予他榮譽博士學位。
