1992年，羅蘭・羅傑夫（Roland Dyroff）、托馬斯・費爾（Thomas Fehr）、伯查德·斯坦比爾德（Burchard Steinbild）和休伯特·曼特爾（Hubert Mantel）創立了S.u.S.E.，這是德文「軟件和系統開發」Software und System-Entwicklung的縮寫。
Novell時期 編輯
2004年1月13日，Novell以2.1億美元現金交易完成了對SUSE的收購[4]。
Attachmate時期 編輯
2011年4月27日，Attachmate集團完成了對Novell的收購[5]，SUSE因此成為Attachmate集團旗下部門。
Micro Focus時期 編輯
2014年12月20日，Micro Focus與Attachmate完成合併[6]，SUSE因此成為Micro Focus集團一員。
獨立企業時期 編輯
2019年3月16日，成長型投資公司殷拓集團從Micro Focus完成對SUSE的收購[7]，SUSE因此成為獨立企業。
