戴夫·班克罗夫特

大卫·詹姆斯·班克罗夫特（英语：David James Bancroft, 1891年4月20日—1972年10月9日），绰号“Beauty”，为美国职棒大联盟的游击手及总教练。16年棒球生涯效力于费城人、巨人、勇士与罗宾队。

班克罗夫特为1921年和1922年巨人队冠军班底。1915年与1923年也打过世界大赛。他被认为是一名出色的游击手及聪明的棒球员，他在1971年由名人堂资深委员会推荐入选名人堂。不过他的入选有受争议，因为班克罗夫特被认为是经由他的亲信推荐而入选的。

费城费城人 编辑

1915年球季开打前，费城人以5000美金签下班克罗夫特。1915年，费城人队史首度闯入世界大赛，不过当时红袜投手群实力坚强，因此费城人挑战队史首冠失利。不过班克罗夫特的打击火力帮助费城人拿下了首战胜利。[1]费城人在世界大赛全队打击率仅1成82，不过班克罗夫特的打击率高达2成94。[2]

1916年，他担任球队第三棒，但是打击率却下滑至2成12为生涯新低。[3]尽管进攻火力降低，但是防守能力依旧不减。该年费城人在国联排名第二，仅次于罗宾队。[4][5]

班克罗夫特当时与Gavvy Cravath(1919年的费城人总教练)不和。[6]因此在1919年球季开打前，班克罗夫特要求球队将他交易至红人队，[7]但是谈判破局。1920年，纽约巨人的教练约翰·麦格劳看中班克罗夫特的实力，将他交易过来。[8]

纽约巨人 编辑

1920年，班克罗夫特单季得到102分，在球队中排名第二。[9]1921年6月1日，在面对费城人的一场比赛中，班克罗夫特达成完全打击。[10][11]该年他出赛153场，为国联第二高。[12]巨人闯入了世界大赛，然而他在世界大赛的打击率仅1成52，不过巨人还是以5胜3败打败洋基。[13]

1922年，班克罗夫特出赛156场，得到117分，79次保送，单季209支安打。[14]该季3成21打击率为生涯最高。巨人连续2年与洋基在世界大赛中对决，巨人四战横扫洋基，然而班克罗夫特的打击率只有2成11。[15]

1923年，巨人队把新秀游击手崔维斯·杰克森升上大联盟，班克罗夫特的上场空间也被压缩。1923年球季结束，麦格劳将班克罗夫特、Bill Cunningham及Casey Stangel交易至勇士队换来Joe Oeschger和Billy Southworth。[19][20]

1924年到1927年，班克罗夫特担任球队的球员兼教练。1924年，他因为阑尾炎而缺席大半个球季。[21]该年勇士的战绩为国联最后一名。1925年，班克罗夫特全面改组勇士的阵容。[22]他把游击手Bob Smith转为投手，Smith担任投手也表现亮眼。[23]1925年，勇士战绩为国联第五。[24]不过勇士的打击并不是太出色，1926和1927年，球队战绩都只有第七名。[25][26]

1929年，班克罗夫特被罗宾队释出。他也回到了巨人队在麦格劳身旁担任助理教练。[29]1930年，他卸下球员身份，转为教练的身份辅助年迈的麦格劳。[30]1932年，麦格劳宣布退休。然而接替总教练位置的人，不是班克罗夫特，而是比尔·泰瑞。班克罗夫特对球队感到大失所望，带着遗憾离开巨人。

班克罗夫特在小联盟打球时与Edna Harriet Gisin结婚，不过两人膝下无子，并定居在苏必利尔。

班克罗夫特从棒球界退休后，便在零售店担任管理员，并于1956年退休。1972年10月9日，班克罗夫特以81岁高龄辞世。[31]
