2016年2月，丁利获得2016年夏季奥林匹克运动会参赛资格，为1948年来第一位取得奥运参赛资格的爱尔兰跳水运动员[1][2][3]。丁利也成为第一位闯进奥运决赛的爱尔兰跳水运动员，他最终在男子个人3米跳板项目排名第8[4]。
