红嘴奎利亚雀
红嘴奎利亚雀(学名:Quelea quelea)是奎利亚雀属的一种小型候鸟,其体长不过12 cm(4.7英寸),重不过15—26 g(0.53—0.92 oz)。这种鸟分布于撒哈拉以南非洲,共有三个亚种。

这种鸟主要以植物种子为食,可能会对农作物产生损害,因此非洲农民会使用杀鸟剂来捕杀红嘴奎利亚雀。但红嘴奎利亚雀数量极多,可达15亿只,因此不但是无危物种,还被视为世界上种群数量最多的野生鸟类。

红嘴奎利亚雀体长不过12 cm(4.7英寸),重不过15—26 g(0.53—0.92 oz)。其喙呈红色或橘黄色[3]。75%的红嘴奎利亚雀面部呈黑色,但有部分呈白色[4]。
红嘴奎利亚雀的雄鸟有较为艳丽的婚羽,雌鸟则与非繁殖期的雄鸟相似,没有特别明显的婚羽,但在繁殖期其喙会变为黄色,其他时间则是粉色或暗红色的[3]。

红嘴奎利亚雀是地球上数量最多的野生鸟类,可达15亿只[3]。它们主要以植物种子为食,会为了寻找食物而不断迁徙,即使是繁殖季节,每天也会飞出50—65 km(31—40 mi)寻找食物,晚上回到筑巢地区休息[5]。虽然通常集群迁徙,但数量较少的种群也会和其他的鸟类,如各种织布鸟或者苏丹金麻雀一起生活。其野外预期寿命在二至三年间,笼养的红嘴奎利亚雀寿命可达18年[3]。
与人类的关系 编辑
非洲许多地区的人民会捕食红嘴奎利亚雀。恩贾梅纳一地每年捕捉的红嘴奎利亚雀就达五百万到一千万只,但这对红嘴奎利亚雀的种群数量似乎没有太大影响[6]。
红嘴奎利亚雀又称“有羽毛的蝗虫”,在非洲是一种农业害鸟。它们在旱季吃麦子,雨季刚到时又会吃稻米。虽然一只红嘴奎利亚雀一天只能吃掉18 g(0.63 oz)的粮食,但因为其鸟群数量常上百万,所以消耗是颇为惊人的。200万只一群的红嘴奎利亚雀一天能吃掉50 t(110,000磅)的粮食。[7]
