美国福音信义会（Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, ELCA），属于信义宗，教会体制采修订过的主教制（设有主教，但隶属堂会保留部分会众制的权力），总部位于芝加哥。美国福音信义会是主流新教（Oldline Protestant）之一，教会声称约有400万教友[1]，是美国最大型的信义宗教会[2]。2018年，教会有3,363,281人受洗的教友 [3]。

ELCA的神学观源自马丁路德，接受奥斯堡信条和协同书的指导。该教会对自身的描述是“福音的、普世的、合一的”（Evangelical, Catholic and Ecumenical）[4]。相比保守的密苏里路德会和威斯康星福音路德总会（Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod），大多隶属ELCA的堂会，其神学立场介于温和到自由派之间，不过也是有偏向保守派的堂会。

ELCA支持女性担任神职人员，并在2009年通过决议“终身许诺单配偶关系”（committed monogamous relationship）的LGBT人士可担任神职人员，底下的堂会（Congregations）可自行决定是否要接受此项决议，也可自行决定是否要为同性伴侣关系提供宗教上的祝福仪式[5]。在堕胎议题上，ELCA描述其自身为“支持生命的社群”（a community supportive of life），鼓励女性探索堕胎的替代方案，例如收出养；但是ELCA也认为在某些情况下，堕胎是道德上负责任的决定，包括会造成母亲生命威胁的时候，违反其中一方性自主意愿而怀孕的时候，会导致胎儿早死和严重受苦的极端异常状态的时候。
该教会参与普世教会协会以及世界信义宗联会（Lutheran World Federation），并和美国圣公会、联合循道会、美国长老教会、美国归正教会、美国联合基督教会和美国摩拉维亚弟兄会达成共融[6]。
世界信义宗联会和罗马天主教会在1999年发表《关于称义教义的联合声明》，该联合声明宣称双方教会对“通过对基督的信念，凭借神的恩典称义”这一观点的一致。

在1988年，The American Lutheran Church (ALC)，the Lutheran Church in America (LCA)，the Association of Evangelical Lutheran Churches(AELC)合并为ELCA。这些教会分别源自于德国、丹麦、芬兰、瑞典、挪威、斯洛伐克等地的信义会。

To be evangelical means to be committed to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. To be catholic means to be committed to the fullness of the apostolic faith and its credal, doctrinal articulation for the entire world. To be ecumenical means to be committed to the oneness to which God calls the world in the saving gift of Jesus Christ. The Confession of Faith of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (Constitution, Chapter 2), may be described as evangelical, catholic, and ecumenical.
