Zopa于2005年3月在英国推出，作为网络借贷的安排者，将投资者以及寻求个人贷款的联系起来[4][5]。它由互联网银行公司鸡蛋银行的一个团队于2004年在白金汉郡创立[6][7]。

该公司的主要办公室位于伦敦桥[8]。自2017年以来，Zopa还有在西班牙巴塞罗那设发展中心[9]。该公司的名称来自“谈判协议区”，这是一种谈判术语，用于确定双方之间可以达成协议的范围[10]。
