2017年10月6日，史密斯透过推特宣布他的第二张专辑名为《痛快感受》，并将会于2017年11月3日发行[5]。 这是史密斯在首张专辑《寂寞时分（英语：In the Lonely Hour）》获得巨大成功后的第二张完整专辑，而前张专辑在全球有近1200万的销量。

史密斯在《公告牌》谈论专辑时说：
