编辑本季于2014年1月29日获得再增添。[2] 监制之一Hart Hanson卸任本季节目制作总监，把重点放在他新的电视剧，因此，本季节目制作总监由另一位长久担任编剧与监制Stephan Nathan出任。[2] 在本年一月，虽然福克斯广播公司电视台前度主席Kevin Reilly表示本季将可能是最后一季，但在2014年7月，现任主席兼首席执行官Peter Rice透露：“本人希望本季不是最后的一季…这是一部令人充满欢乐的剧集…不应该只有10年的时间…演员的合同将于本年约满，所以我们必须有这样的对话...但我希望会继续…”[3] 本季主要故事情节包括第200集，由Stephan Nathan与Hart Hanson共同编写，David Boreanaz作导演拍摄。[4] 故事以五十年代作背景，以向电影导演亚弗列•希治阁致敬。 另一方面，演员John Boyd将于本季首集加入，饰演一个初级FBI探员，以作为Booth的手下协助工作，并有可能成为常驻角色。[5] 而由John Francis Daley于第三季加入饰演心理学家的Dr. Sweet， 因他即将需要为其参与的新电影进行编写及导演拍摄工作，所以在本季首集故事情节中其角色被神秘人杀害。监制之一Stephan Nathan透露，他认为把其角色杀死比起编写他离开有更大的回响及影响力。[6] 而本剧的第206集，当中剧情包含了人体内206块骨头的名称，同时也令本剧成为福克斯广播公司电视历史上最长寿的一小时电视剧。[7] 因应女主角Emily Deschanel再次怀孕，本季情节（如同上一次女主角怀孕）也加入Brennan怀有Booth第二名的孩子。[8] 除此之外，由于在编写最后的一集时尚未确实是否会有下一季的出现 ， 因此其季度大结局的剧情像是系列的终结。[9]
