隱翅蟲總科（學名：Staphylinoidea）是多食亞目甲蟲之下的一個總科，屬於隱翅蟲下目的一員。本總科廣佈世界，多樣性高，已命名物種有五萬八千種以上[1]。

大多數物種為中小型甲蟲，有一對縮短的鞘翅（elytra）。The hind wings have no accessory posterior ridge (locking device), no wedge cell and apical cell. Abdominal 8th segment not entirely invaginated in the 7th. Head mostly without coronal suture.[2]

根據Beutel & Leschen (2005) 透過比對隱翅蟲下目各物種的成蟲及若蟲的121項外形特徵，綜合出本總科之下應包括下列七個科[3][4]：

- Ptiliidae Erichson 1845
- Cephaloplectinae or Limulodidae Sharp 1883

- 隱翅蟲科（Staphylinidae Latreille, 1802）
