可以說有兩種類型的新加坡人愛國歌曲。 第一類是隨着時間的推移，對新加坡人具有特別意義的傳統民歌。 其中許多都是以本地語言歌唱--如馬來語，漢語和泰米爾語。 例如馬來語歌曲"Di Tanjung Katong"和泰米爾語歌曲"Munnaeru Vaalibaa"。

印度創作人抄襲事件 編輯
2021年3月，由加拿大詞曲創作人休·哈里森（Hugh Harrison）創作，曹思平演唱的1986年經典曲目《相信我吧！新加坡》在被爆在印度被抄襲套用成印度愛國歌曲《我們辦得到》（We can achieve）。《我們辦得到》被指將《相信我吧！新加坡》當中所有的「新加坡」一詞都改成「印度」，其他詞句幾乎原封不動。[26]《我們辦得到》的「創作人」Joey Mendoza在網上發言辯稱自己早在1983年的孟買就創作了《我們辦得到》，並在當地非常受歡迎。休·哈里森回應稱Joey Mendoza將「很難」提供證據證明他確實在1983年創作了這首歌曲，他解釋該詞曲是在「（新加坡）政府、代理商和音樂製作團隊的共同努力下」花了「幾個月的時間」完成的，而這一過程也是「有據可查的」。[27]
