星牙龙属
星牙龙属（学名：Astrodon）是种大型草食性恐龙，属于蜥脚下目，是腕龙的近亲，生活于白垩纪早期的美国东部。根据地层所含孢粉型态的年代测定，发现星牙龙是生活于阿普第阶到阿尔比阶之间，距今约1亿1200万年前[1]。成年的星牙龙估计身长约15.2到18.3米长，头部可高举至多于9.1米高。

发现及物种 编辑
星牙龙的化石只有两个牙齿，发现于美国马里兰州的别登堡附近，属于阿伦德尔组（Arundel Formation），并于1859年由克里斯多福·强森（Christopher Johnson）所叙述、命名。但是强森命名时没有加上种小名，所以于1865年，约瑟夫·莱迪（Joseph Leidy）命名星牙龙的模式种为强森氏星牙龙（Astrodon johnstoni），种名是以强森为名。
在1888年，奥塞内尔·查利斯·马什（Othniel Charles Marsh）将一些发现于阿伦德尔组的一些骨头，命名为侏儒侧空龙（Pleurocoelus nanus）及高侧空龙（P. altus）。但是在1921年，查尔斯·怀特尼·吉尔摩尔（Charles W. Gilmore）提出它们应是属于星牙龙的，肯尼思·卡彭特（Kenneth Carpenter）及Tidwell也支持这个观点。有趣的是，星牙龙的大部分骨头都是幼年个体。肯尼思·卡彭特及Tidwell认为马什所命名的侏儒侧空龙与高侧空龙，应该是星牙龙的不同成长阶段[1]。
