UC-65號潛艦

陛下之UC-65號艇（德語：SM UC 65[註 1]）是德意志帝國海軍於第一次世界大戰期間建造的其中一艘UC-II型近岸（英語：Coastal submarine）布雷潛艦或稱U艇。它由漢堡的布洛姆與福斯船廠承建，於1916年7月8日新船下水，至同年11月7日交付使用（英語：Ship commissioning）。其全長50.35公尺，水面及水下排水量分別為427噸和508噸，艇載武器則包括三具魚雷發射管、六具水雷滑射槽以及一門88公釐口徑甲板炮（英語：Deck gun）。UC-65號入役後曾被部署至駐比利時的法蘭德斯區艦隊，並參與了大西洋潛艦戰。通過其十一次巡邏，共直接或間接擊沉106艘協約國或中立國艦船，累計總噸位達127218噸以上。1917年11月3日，UC-65號在英吉利海峽遭英國潛艦C15號（英語：HMS C15）發射魚雷擊沉，造成艇內23名官兵陣亡，僅5人倖存。

1915年秋天，由於中立國美國的干預，U艇戰（英語：U-boat campaign）幾乎陷入停頓，導致德國廣泛開展《國際法》所允許的水雷戰，從而使布雷潛艦的需求量相應增加。德意志帝國海軍潛艦監察局（Inspektion des U-Bootwesens）的開發部門留意到了這一點，遂以UB-II型為基礎，按照兼顧布雷效率和生產速度的要求，以41號工程的名義設計了UC-II型潛艦。為了彌補前型UC-I型的缺陷，UC-II型艇不僅更大，而且採用雙軸推進系統。然而，與前型最主要的區別在於，UC-II型艇重新運用了雙殼體（德語：Zweihüllenboot）結構。但它並非純粹的雙體潛艦，而是一種中間過渡型；因為外層沒有封閉耐壓殼體（英語：pressure hull），而是作為鞍形水櫃（英語：Saddle tank (submarine)）附在上方。[7]

UC-65號是64艘UC-II型方案的其中一艘。這個亞型的艇體結構與UB-II型類似，但體積更大，全長為50.35公尺，並有3.64公尺的吃水深度；由於不再考慮鐵路運輸的裝載限界（英語：Loading gauge），舷寬也得以增至5.22公尺。其水上和水下排水量分別為427噸和508噸。艇只採用兩台猛獅六缸四衝程600匹公制馬力（440千瓦特）柴油機用於水面運行，以及兩台620匹公制馬力（460千瓦特）的西門子-舒克特（英語：Siemens-Schuckert）電動發電機用於水下航行；水面最高航速12節（22公里每小時），水下7.4節（13.7公里每小時）；能夠在水面以7節（13公里每小時）航速續航10,420海里（19,300公里），或以4節（7.4公里每小時）連續在水下航行52海里（96公里）而無需充電。其潛沒需時約為30秒，能夠在50公尺的深度下運作。[8][3]

作為布雷潛艦，UC-65號改將六具布雷滑射槽安裝在艇體前部，每具儲存井內的水雷數量增至3枚，即合共18枚UC200型水雷。布雷時只需將存儲井底部的蓋板打開，水雷便可憑藉自身重量滑入水中。[9]隨著滑射槽長度增加，艇體艏樓的上層建築被抬高，上層建築與司令塔之間的凹陷處布置了一門88公釐30倍徑速射炮（英語：8.8 cm SK L/30 naval gun）作為甲板炮（英語：Deck gun）。但由於位置相對較低，火炮甲板在惡劣海況下很容易被涌浪淹沒。此外，UC-65號還裝備有三具500公釐魚雷發射管，這極大提升了潛艦的攻擊能力。其中艇艏兩具外置在兩側、艇艉一具則為內置式，並可搭載合共7枚G6型魚雷。其標準船員編制（英語：Ship's company）為3名軍官及23名水兵。[3]

1916年1月12日，在海軍元帥阿爾弗雷德·馮·鐵必制的倡議下，國家海軍辦公室分別向五家德國造船廠發包第三批次的UC-II型潛艦。UC-65號因此成為漢堡布洛姆與福斯船廠承建的該批次首艇，建造編號為281。它於1916年7月8日新船下水，至同年11月7日在曾先後執掌U-6、UB-10和UB-18號的王牌艇長、海軍中尉奧托·施泰恩布林克（英語：Otto Steinbrinck）的指揮下交付使用（英語：Ship commissioning），隨即展開海試。[4]繼施泰恩布林克之後，功勳指揮官馬克斯·菲貝格（德語：Max Viebeg）上尉以及克勞斯·拉弗倫茨上尉也曾擔任UC-65號艇長。完成海試後，該艇於1917年2月3日被編入駐澤布呂赫的法蘭德斯區艦隊，成為海軍法蘭德斯軍團（德語：Marinekorps Flandern）的一份子。[1][10]

在為期九個月的法蘭德斯役期中，UC-65號參與了大西洋潛艦戰，足跡遍及聖喬治海峽、愛爾蘭海、凱爾特海和英吉利海峽等多處水域。通過十一次布雷及破交戰（德語：Handelskrieg）巡邏，UC-65號合共擊沉協約國或中立國的101艘商船、1艘軍艦和4艘輔助軍艦，累計總噸位達127218噸以上，從而成為擊沉船舶數量最多的UC級潛艦。[11][12]其中，體積最大的受害者是註冊噸位為11483噸的英國客貨輪（英語：Cargo liner）德里納號（Drina），它於1917年3月1日從布宜諾斯艾利斯前往利物浦的途中，在距斯科霍爾姆島（英語：Skokholm）以西約2海里（3.7公里）處撞上了由UC-65號布設的水雷而沉沒，造成15人罹難。[13]此為一戰期間遭U艇襲擊的最大型艦船之一。[14]而註冊噸位為18565噸的英國客輪拉普蘭號（英語：SS Lapland）儘管噸位顯著更重，但它於1917年4月7日從紐約駛向利物浦途中在利物浦灣（英語：Liverpool Bay）附近觸雷後僅僅受損，並未沉沒。[15]此外，UC-65號還擊沉了隸屬英國皇家海軍、排水量為11000噸的防護巡洋艦阿里阿德涅號（英語：HMS Ariadne (1898)），這是1917年7月26日由施泰恩布林克在比奇角附近發射魚雷擊沉，造成艦上38名官兵陣亡。[16]

1917年11月3日，正在英吉利海峽巡邏的英國潛艦C15號（英語：HMS C15）發現了水面上的UC-65號。英國人遂從400公尺的距離發射了兩枚魚雷，其中一枚取得命中。UC-65號的艇艉被炸掉，並在50°31′N 00°27′E / 50.517°N 0.450°E / 50.517; 0.450座標：50°31′N 00°27′E / 50.517°N 0.450°E / 50.517; 0.450處迅速沉沒。艇內23名船員陣亡，僅當時身處司令塔的5人倖免於難——包括艇長拉弗倫茨上尉、1名值更官（德語：Wachoffizier）和3名水兵，他們在獲救後均被俘虜。[17][1]
